Requiem for My Unborn Sister

〈Requiem for My Unborn Sister〉 is a conceptual video inspired by the story of my unborn sister, who exists only within my family’s memories. Thinking about how her presence survives solely through others’ narratives, I reflected on the way stories are often incomplete, shaped by selective recollection.

To represent a life that exists only through storytelling, I used sourced images and video footage collected online. These materials, originally designed for multiple anonymous uses, carry a generic and impersonal quality, detached from any single identity or body. Their poetic yet ambiguous surface mirrors my sister’s existence as something remembered, imagined, and never physically encountered.

Through this work, I explored how life and death, presence and absence, intertwine within the fragile act of remembering. The work received 1st Prize in the Experimental Film category at The New Screen Fest in 2025.
